General Surgery

The Section of General Surgery offers expertise in reoperative surgery for hyperparathyriodism, complex biliary tract and gastrointestinal surgery, surgery for inflammatory bowel disease, surgery for hyperthyriodism, head/neck cancer surgery, and general oncologic surgery with special emphasis on the breast.

In addition to standard operative therapies, this multidisciplinary group has expertise in surgical interventions such as laparoscopic cholecystectomy for gallstones, laparoscopic gastric and bowel resection, laparoscopic agotomy for ulcer, laparoscopic fundoplication for reflux and diagnostic laparoscopy. Other surgical innovations include the application of cryosurgery for metastatic liver tumors, anal sphincter preservation for rectal cancer and ulcerative colitis, and esophagectomy without thoracotomy for esophageal cancer. Colorectal cancer screening and outpatient hemorrhoid treatments are also performed.
